How low is your Sol?

No more rattle can for my sol.....
« on: March 10, 2010, 09:12:09 PM »

So I dropped my sol off for paint today. I should have it back a week from this Friday.
So here is a picture of it from last year, this is how alot of people may know it.

Here is my 3 year old rattlecan paintjob (Rustoleum Cobalt Blue Metalic  :winkok) ) No more rattle can for me.

And here is pics today as I left it for some body work and paint.

I added a 96 front bumper:

Swapped on a deck lid with no spoiler: Also deleting rear emblem.

and the other pics:

looks like you got it all planned out. Are they taking it down to metal and starting over? How much is it gonna run you?

Just picked up a black 96/97 front before the motor blew...literally like an hour before haha

Good for you.  Can't wait to see it.  Where are you taking it?  Did you do any body work or sanding yourself or just dropped it off with the areas in the pictures requested to be fixed?

They have to take it down to metal to get rid of the rattle can, they didn't have a choice, cost me an extra $300 just to sand it down. Plus the extra money to put the stripes in properly under the clear coat as well.

I want to see the results before I mention where I went. They really cut me a hell of a deal considering the work they need to do to it. Put it this way, the body guy swears that there is bondo on the car. When I told him it was all rattle can because I bought it with the stock pealing paint, he said there must be like 15 layers there. I told him he was probably close  Roll Eyes

Not 100% sure if I'll show finished photos once the car is done. I might leave the unveiling for VI, but here is pics from today. Complete sanding will start on Monday.

Here is what it looked like yesterday. They finished up the primer coat and the last of the body work today. It pretty much looked the same today so I didn't take new pictures. They are finishing the masking in the morning and then the color goes on.   Going to be some time next week before I get it back. They are painting the trunk and door jams.
